East Side Burgers

We found out about East Side Burgers from the owner of Chocolatitude, and although it’s not exactly something we would seek out, when in Paris we decided to try it out. This vegetarian/vegan burger joint is quite a hit with locals and visitors. The restaurant boasts about having American stars visiting when in Paris. They recently had a singer from Texas visit them, and Ben Affleck tweeted about the restaurant a while back. We were told by a French guy on the street that the place was really good, and how they made their own fries. We didn’t eat at the place that day, but decided to come back later and see if it lived up to the expectation. We went all out with our own burger and fries. The burger we selected from the options of the day was called Le Forestier. It had tomatoes, caramelized onions, lettuce, and a mushroom and tofu patty. The only difference from a vegetarian to a vegan burger was the cheese. We weren’t expecting much of the place, but it turned out to be quite tasty. Paris keeps surprising us with the quality and flavors of vegan food. This is one of the reasons why we’re willing to try things we normally don’t eat.

We found these posters amusing.

The burger size was smaller than what you normally see in the states, but it was the perfect amount of food for us. We were stuffed. Although a one –time experience for us, I would recommend it to other vegetarian or vegans interested in a good burger. The price was also reasonable at 9 euros for the meal (burger, fries and bottled water). And besides burgers, they also serve vegan quiche, hot dogs, nuggets and desserts.
