Emma Pea Vegetarian Food and Bar…in the Raw

Sometimes you find the best tasting food in the least expected places. This was the case for us when we tried Emma Pea, a small food and bar joint in the RAW 99 area of the Friedrichshain neighborhood that serves vegetarian and vegan dishes. I had heard about RAW being a warehouse-like site, but that was the extent of it. When we arrived to the area, it was dark — almost pitch dark in certain spots. We walked through RAW and noticed the warehouse resemblance; it was quiet and after being approached twice by some guy if we wanted some drugs, we were starting to wonder what kind of place this was. Despite the sketchy vibe we were picking up, it was perfectly harmless. We explored the area a little and found that there were other bars, an indoor climbing gym, and a place for Tango lessons.

When we found Emma Pea the place was inviting and cozy, and we found our dining experience to be fantastic.

After having burritos we didn't like so much at Dolores the previous day, we decided to try Emma Pea's creation. It turned out to be fantastic, and it hit the spot.

We couldn't resist the case of desserts next to us. We both had this yummy vegan cherry poppy seed crumble cake.

This place was awesome, and they have a decent variety of dishes on their menu. Despite so, we probably will order the burritos again when we return because it was that good.
