I know my posts lately have been about our food adventures, and this is because we are enjoying the vegan scene here in Montreal. Also because it’s been super cold, so exploring the tourist things outside that we’d like to do isn’t so appealing right now. However, it is warming up, so we’re looking forward to spring and summertime here.
In the meantime, I want to share a cool place in downtown Montreal where you can get the best burritos in town. Burritoville is the place, and I just love its suiting name. Located inside an old house, the vegetarian/vegan joint is a non-profit solidarity CO-OP, serving burritos, tacos and quesadillas. And the cool thing is, they strive to be organic even though they are non-profit.
With its unpretentious and casual atmosphere, everyone goes there for the food. We didn’t know what to expect, but we wanted burritos and was pleasantly surprised how simple and well-done it is. The great thing for us as well is that the food was very low oil — just whole food and tasty.
They have only three types of burritos on the menu: The Sweet Potato, The Pinto, and The Chili. You have the choice to choose from whole wheat or flour tortilla and all the burritos are lightly toasted.
Nick ordered The Chili sans fromage, subbing it with avocado. He absolutely loved it, saying hands down his favorite burrito so far.
I had The Pinto sans fromage, subbing it with sweet potatoes. And yum! Delicious. It’s definitely tasty and healthier tasting than most burritos we’ve had out.
Not the most interesting pictures of burritos, but I still have to share and review all great food discoveries. Burritoville knows how to make some tasty (and healthier) burritos and thus deserves a shout out.
